Pakistan: 10 killed in rail crossing crash

29 January 1999: Ten people have been killed and 12 injured in a train crash at a railway crossing in Pakistan according to reports.
The accident occurred at around 1030 on Friday January 29 about 15 km from Sibi, Baluchistan south of Quetta. Eight people were killed immediately as a train struck a vehicle described as a "passenger van" on a level crossing. Two more people died later as a result of their injuries.
A railway employee, the crossing attendant has been suspended and officials have ordered an inquiry into the accident.
