Hundreds feared dead in Indian train collision: Monday, August 02, 1999As many as five hundred people are feared to have been killed in a collision between two trains in eastern India. Early reports suggest that the two two trains collided head-on after a signal failure. The accident occurred at around 01:30 (local time) near Gaisal station. Initial reports suggesting it was abombing incident have been discounted. One of the trains is thought to have been carrying munitions.
