India: Train fire - scores injured
(railtec)
India, 15 February 1999: A train standing in Bhadravati caught fire injuring 70 people.
Reports suggest that a single coach of the Guntakal to Bangalore train caught fire while the train was in the town of Bhadravati. It is thought that about 70 people who were in the coach suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation.
Accident investigators are considering the possibility that a gas cylinder that was being carried on the coach may have been the cause. However, other causes, such as an electrical fault have not been ruled out.
