: Thursday, July 29, 1999
Eleven employees of Indian Railways have been suspended after a collision between two trains which killed 20 people.
Their suspension from their duties comes ahead of a full inquiry into the accident and is a result of preliminary report by the Chief Railway Safety Commissioner.
The Grand Trunk express collided with a goods train which became derailed near the northern city of Agra on India's Central Railway. Those suspended include two of the crew of the goods train who failed to set warning devices. Also suspended are three staff of a control centre who failed to isolate the overhead power supply.
