  : Wednesday October 11, 2000
Twenty people were injured when a two-car Sprinter multiple unit train derailed near Glenluce, Stranraer on Tuesday October 10.
No-one was seriously injured in the incident which occurred at about 17:45. The crew of two and the train's 24 passengers were evacuated from the train and 8 people were treated in hospital.

The derailment was caused because a 70 yard section of track had been swept away by flooding. Both carriages of the train, operated by Scotrail were derailed. The first car remained upright, but the second car toppled to one side against an embankment.
