At least 3 people have died in a collision betwen 2 passenger trains in Norway.

The accident occurred at about 13:30 local time near Lillehammer. A locomotive of one of the trains is thought to have overturned and fire has broken out. A number of people are trapped in the wreckage.

The death toll has not been confirmed and it is thought that as many as 40 people may have been injured.

One of the trains involved was southbound from Trondheim and the other was en route to Hamar. The trains were carrying about 96 people.
