71 hurt as trains collide

Two passenger trains collided in Belgium yesterday (28 October 2000) injuring 71 people, 3 seriously.
The accident occurrred on a single line at Herentals, near Antwerp in northern Belgium. The two regional passenger trains, carrying around 300 people were travelling slowly at the time.
One of the trains was travelling from Antwerp to Neerpelt and the other from Torhout to Manage.
The cause of the accident is unknown.
