Head-on collision in Finland

(railtec)
Suonenjoki 12 August 1998: An intercity train was in collision with a freight train at Suonenjoki station injuring fourteen people.

The intercity train of Finnish State Railways was leaving the station when it met an oncoming freight train in a hea-on collision. Fortunately the passenger train had only just started off and so the speed at impact was very low. The people who were hurt suffered only minor injuries.

The cause of the accident is not clear.
