Five die in Senegalese freight train derailment

Senegal 18 July 1998: A freight train was derailed between Dakar and Mali killing at least five people. The train consisted of twenty-two wagons, ten which left the rails during heavy rain.

There are few details available but it is believed that the train was carrying inflammable liquid, possibly petrol.
