South Central Railway, India 29 June 1998. Sabotage is being blamed for the derailment of the Narayanadri Secunderabad - Tirupati Express. The engine and 10 coaches left the rails at about 4.10am due to the removal of fish plates connecting sections of rail. Twenty passengers recieved minor injuries.
The driver is being praised for his alertness in making an immediate application of the brakes and averting a more serious incident.
