Visakha Express derailed

Central Southern Railway, India, 27 July, 1998. At least 10 coaches of the Secunderabad-bound Palasa-Secunderabad Visakha Express derailed near Nadikude in Guntur district at 7-30 a.m. on Sunday.

The accident occurred at around 5.30am. The train which was running late by almost four hours was scheduled to arrive at Guntur at 1.45am. Of the 10 coaches, two derailed and the remaining eight overturned. However, there were no casualties. But, at least 35 passengers are said to have received minor injuries. Two of the injured were admitted to Piduguralla Government hospital and were given treatment.
