India - Magadh Express derailed

India 19 October 1998. The Magadh Express was derailed near Gahmar railway station in Danapur division on Monday killing 3 people and injuring 12 others. It is believed that a track fault was the cause of the accident. An investigation into the exact cause is being undertaken by the Eastern Railway's Railway Safety Commissioner.
This was the second, recent accident in which faulty track was said to be to blame. The earlier incident was in Andhra Pradesh. The Railway Minister has called a meeting of the Railway Board to examine safety on the nation's railways particularly in respect of the condition and maintenance railway track.
